Post-Trauma Services

Psychological trauma can be brought about by a number of life-altering events. Physical and sexual assault, combat, natural disasters, motor vehicle accidents, childhood sexual abuse and armed robbery are just a few events that can bring about severe emotional reactions such as depression, anxiety disorders or Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Trauma reactions often include intrusive symptoms such as replaying or re-experiencing the traumatic event during sleep or while awake, withdrawal from others and avoidance of situations associated with the trauma, and symptoms related to heightened physical reactions, such as startle responses, irritability and a hyper-vigilance of surroundings. Treatment can help with these difficulties.

The Post-Trauma Service provides evaluation, psychotherapy and consultation for:

  • Reactions to physical assault
  • Reactions to sexual assault
  • Adult survivors of childhood physical and sexual abuse
  • Battered women
  • Motor vehicle accident victims
  • Crime victims
  • On-the-job injuries
